MINDFULNESS BASED WELLNESS EDUCATION (MBWE) FOR VETERANS

While the concept of mindfulness is not new, its current use in many facets of modern- day life is relatively recent. Mindfulness, as a technique of stress reduction and self-care, as an effective strategy to maintain health and wellbeing, is growing and rapidly becoming part of everyday life world-wide. GIFT – Delaware Changing lives is committed to supporting our Veteran community with on-going MBWE self-care programs.

$250: Reunion Support. This will help support the ability for GIFT – Delaware Changing Lives to sustain a community of veterans that have gone through training.


$750: Provides MBWE self-care training for one veteran including materials. Mindfulness Self Care has been considered a large part of the third wave of cognitive behavioral therapy and therefore has become integrated in many current counseling approaches for depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, stress management, and management of chronic pain issues and continued self- care plays a key role in successful outcomes.


$5,000: GIFT – Delaware Changing Lives can provide a full 5-week MBWE self-care program to an entire cohort of veterans including live virtual Trainings as well as all reading and workshop materials.

$5,500: Train the Trainer. Provides complete (1.5 to 2 yr) program training and certification for one veteran who can then provide Vanguard training to veterans in his/her community.


$7,000: This funding would help GIFT – Delaware Changing Lives have the ability to offer a full 8-week MBWE self-care program to an entire cohort of veterans including live virtual Trainings as well as all reading and workshop materials.


$10,000: Customized Technology Platform. This funding will support the initial technology platform development making it easy for participating veterans to continue a self-care practice.


GIFT – Delaware Changing Lives has been providing training and support through VetCONNECT programs. Veterans that have participated in MBWE programs and developed self-care plans have integrated stress-management skills into their everyday lives.
